Picking self-pleasure over self-discipline

How many times have we done something, knowing  that it is not the best thing for us? Yet because of the initial pleasure we receive from it, we continue. It’s lure overrides our cognitive judgment to do the right thing, even if we are aware of the risk of unpleasant or painful consequences.

Although  life is not easy our physical being can have a low tolerance for this and we may tend to seek pleasurable things such as, food, alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, internet, spending money, etc. to cope or feel better.

Grace be Given You

Not all of us recognize that we have been graced in our lives and we may point out evidence to support this.
‘But to each one of us grace has been given.’ Ephesians 4:7
Grace is a gift of wonderment because it is freely given to each of us without merit.
So how do we recognize the grace that has been given to us? What are some examples of grace?
• Any goodwill act given to us during a time when we are in need would be considered grace.
• Any ability or talent that we have is considered grace.

The Impact of Kindness

Kindness can be interchanged with the word love due to its similar quality of a desire to do good to others.

Genuine kindness offers repairative qualities to relationships and can be a healing salve to someone who is hurting.

It can eliminate distance and draw one closer to deepening a relationship. It’s power can penetrate our emotional defenses.

When authentically given, doing acts of kindness discipline our human potential for selfishness and align us with the ‘Golden Rule.’
